The second Legal Symposium, a two-day event for lawyers from some of the top international law firms active in the boatbuilding industry, looked at recent legal topics in the areas of contracts and international compliance together with the Shipyard’s in-house legal team and management.
Benetti has always organised events and other initiatives to foster the growth of the yachting market from all points of view, and international contracts are a key factor in the Shipyard’s relationships with customers. This is why Benetti launched its Legal Symposium last year. The second edition of this event was held on June 3 and 4 at Hotel Plaza De Russie in Viareggio, Showroom Franchi Umberto Marmi, Cava Bettogli and Benetti’s Viareggio shipyard. It was attended by over 50 lawyers from the main law firms active in the Italian and international boatbuilding industry.
The heart of the event was a legal discussion in which the guest lawyers and Benetti’s in-house legal team and area sales managers spent an entire afternoon debating the most pressing issues in the yachting world today, such as certain clauses in yacht construction contracts, the implementation of compliance procedures (including Anti Money Laundering – AML) in response to increasingly stringent international laws, and the sustainability of yacht building.
“We’re proud of the success of the second Benetti Legal Symposium,” commented Georgia Agù, Group General Counsel Azimut|Benetti. “This initiative is an opportunity to foster collaboration and sharing of knowledge between international law experts in our industry. We’re convinced that meetings like this are essential to tackle future challenges in an increasingly dynamic and ever-changing legal context.”
